Announcement from our Cosplay Coordinator!
Posted by Katie on Jun 17, 2015
We have two changes to announce for cosplay at Ai-Kon! We will now have a dedicated cosplay desk for signing up for the contests and answering questions at the con. Also, to improve attendee safety we will be implementing a weapons check this year! We will now have a dedicated crew that will check and approve props for safety. Here's how it works:
Ai-Kon weapons / prop check desk
Where : The weapons check desk will be in the Pan Am room on the second floor.
When : Weapons desk hours will be announced with the release of the schedule.
If the weapon requires approval outside of room hours, proceed to the registration desk on the main floor to have a cosplay prop specialist paged.
There will be an additional weapons check session available on Thursday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm during pre-registration.
What to do: Bring your prop(s) to the table, one of our experts will give it a quick look over and then give you a literal seal of approval! Done! Go forth and enjoy the weekend hassle free. It's suggested that you bring all your props for the weekend to be checked at one time to save you multiple trips
Ai-Kon cosplay desk
Where : The cosplay desk will be conveniently located next to the weapons check desk in the Pan Am room on the second floor.
When : Cosplay desk hours will be announced with the release of the schedule.
What to do: Any questions people have about cosplay or the contest can also be brought to our team here instead of going to reg desk. This will both ease the congestion at reg desk, and help deliver better service to cosplayers seeking help :) This would be the location to get your paperwork to enter the cosplay contest.
Come to this desk to get a form and return it before 1:00 pm on Saturday. Be sure to include music if your skit requires it. Upon submission, you'll be given your entry number and confirmation that you are entered in the contest.
The weapons policies are still the SAME; no changes there!
Read the full rules on our website here.
